Directions for Using Disana Tie Nappy

The disana nappy/diaper is very easy to use. Spread out the tie-on, knit nappy/diaper on the changing mat. Slightly, fold down the rear flap. Now place the flannel liner in the center of the nappy/diaper.  Alternatively the insert can in between the two layers of the diaper so only the organic diaper touches your baby.

If your baby is very small, you can adjust the length of the nappy/diaper by folding back the rear edge.

Lay the baby on the nappy/diaper. First, pull up and place the liner between the legs and fold the edges towards the middle.
Then, pull up the lower flap of the nappy/diaper between the legs and over the waist. Here too, by folding the flap, you can adjust the size of the nappy/diaper. Lastly, cross the ties of the knit nappy/diaper across the baby's back, and bring them round to the front and tie in a bow.

The fine knitting gives the nappy/diaper a comfortable elasticity so that if fits snugly. The baby is not restricted, but wrapped gently enough with plenty of room to move.

The disana knit, wool nappy/diaper cover is then pulled over the tie-one diaper. While watertight, the cover allows the air to pass. The soft ribbing around the waist and legs hold the nappy/diaper cover securely and gently in place. Due to the temperature balancing qualities of wool, the baby is kept warm without getting too hot.

disana Waschsack Care Instructions for Cotton
Plant fibers like cotton are durable and can withstand high temperatures and regular machine washing. This makes washing our cotton nappies/diapers and liners relatively easy and simple. Wash on gentle cycle using a mild soap in at least 140°F (60°C) water and if necessary 194°F (90°C). It is important that the water is hot enough to kill any germs and effectively sanitize. Note: most older washing machines sold in the US do not use an internal water heater to regulate the temperature of their water. In that case, make sure that the regular water heater is able to heat the washing machine's water to at least 140°F (60°C).

Care of Wool and Silk
Caring for wool and silk is very different from cotton. Both types of fibers originate from animals, which have a structure very similar to human hair. Their delicate nature makes them sensitive to heat and excessive wear and tear. For this reason, products made out of wool and silk must be hand-washed. Pure wool contains high natural oil content, called lanolin. It protects the wool from soiling. Thus, our wool nappy/diaper covers do not have to be washed after each use. If a cover is damp, it often suffices to hang it out to dry on a clothes line. However, if a wool item requires washing, it must be handled with care. The best way is to use a wash basin filled with lukewarm water no hotter than 77°F (25°C). Use a mild soap, for example our disana wool shampoo. Place the items in the water and gently hand-wash making sure not to rub the material together. For tough stains we recommend putting ox-gall soap directly on the stain. Directly after washing rinse thoroughly in a basin filled with clean lukewarm water. Some of our items, like our wool diaper pants, require additional care. Once washed, these items must be soaked in a lukewarm lanolin bath according to the directions on the bottle in order to replenish the natural woolen oils. This makes the diaper pants watertight. Then squeeze out excess water and air dry. Do not place in the sun or on heaters.
